"I've always been a very healthy person. In fact, I guess you could say that I ...took it for granted that I felt great most of the time. My art reflected my energetic lifestyle...bold...bright..abstract...and down-right loud. The colors in the paint seemed to gush from my paintbrush on to the canvas without much forethought....I never could have predicted how quickly it all would change. Unexpectedly...I started to have pain in my joints...a subtle throb that seemed to get worse everyday. My energy level that was always so high...began to sink. I knew something was terribly wrong. My hands...the source of my livelihood.. could barely grip the paintbrush...If I was bumped anywhere on my arms or hands...I would scream in pain...It was Lupus.
With the support of my wonderful husband and family, I began the slow road to management and recovery from my illness. Through the pain...I continued painting...I noticed that when I created art, that I retreated to place of comfort...relaxation....and healing....It was my sanctuary. Most astonishing of all...was that my art had changed. It was now more serene...quiet...soothing...My subject matter changed, too. I was compelled to paint beautiful visions of nature...incorporating water...and subtle colors...Why did the act of creating these images make me feel "better"? Would it also make the viewer feel better, too? These all were questions running through my mind.
As time passed, a growing number of collectors began writing me stories of their personal healing through my art...Hospitals, Doctors, and therapists started acquiring my art to create more calming environments for their patients. The feedback was tremendous. I was thrilled. It was my pain that started me on this path that has helped so many others....I am thankful everyday.
I am spending my days painting...researching...and helping others discover the profound effect that art has on healing the soul. Art opens the mind to unlimited possibilities...channels energy... and optimism. My goal is for the viewer to escape into a healing, beautiful "place"... like I often do."
